My name is Dave Schultz. I’m interested in taking summer group lessons for fiddle at Old Town. Unfortunately, the fiddle 1 course, starting June 21, is full. My question is whether or not to sign up instead for the fiddle repertoire.
I have some musical background. For the last 2 years, I have been teaching myself violin. I can read music (played woodwinds through high school) and have worked through several books in the “Essential Elements” series for strings. Comfortable with D, G and C major scales. I’ve done my best to pay attention to proper form in playing, and have received help from some violin students (my daughter and students from the school where I teach.) I am really interested in learning bluegrass fiddle.
Do you think that Fiddle repertoire would be appropriate for me this summer?
