The Chicago Chapter

The Chicago Chapter of the Fiddle Club of the World meets for a monthly session of tunes, usually the 3rd Sunday, at 7:00pm at the Leadway Bar & Grill (5233 N. Damen).  We also sponsor 6 to 8 concerts a year in the back room at Seman Violins (4777 W. Oakton in Skokie), also at 7 pm.  Club members and guests get to hear a performance up-close, followed by a tune session/ workshop led by our featured artists.  Tunes to learn ahead of time are posted on this blog.

The Fiddle Club of the World began with solid support from the Old Town School of Folk Music.  That support continues in all matters except those fiscal.  The Fiddle Club is now an independent venture of DrDosido Ltd.  Your attendance, by showing up at the door with $15 in hand, is the best way to way to support our featured guests.  As we close the 6th year of operation, we have presented 42 great fiddlers and musical ensembles from 7 different countries, at least fifteen different states in the U.S., and a variety of cultural traditions.

The future of Fiddle Club is full of promise. During the summer of 2014, we will complete an affiliation with The Company of Folk. We are taking steps to expand both our web presence and member participation. We will soon be rolling out two new membership: World Members and Friends of the Chicago Chapter. Membership priveleges will include access to an online members only Fiddle Clubhouse, a membership card and case sticker, and a copy of CD of highlights from the Midwest Fiddle Championship (currently in production).

  1. Hi – I am trying to find the contract information for Genevieve Harrison Koester so that I can ask permission – or find out who I need to ask – for a Garry Harrison tune. Can you point me in the right direction? I saw that she is on your website.
