Central European Music

New Immigrants

July 1980. Steve Duray (Fort Wayne) - concertina & piano accordion. Of Slovenian descent he plays German, Polish and Slovenian-style polkas. The first two pieces are on concertina.


August 1980. Fritz Ehrhart (Monroeville) - button box accordion. Post-war German immigrant, Fritz leads an dance orchestra that plays regularly at the Fort Wayne Sport Club, a German club.




Old Immigrants

August 10, 1980. Obie & Ossie (St. Meinrad). Herb Obermeyer - fiddle, and Oscar "Butch" Kunkler - guitar & vocal. The latter was a member of Joe Altman's Spaasmachers in the 1960s.


August 10, 1980. The Satkamp Family (Stendahl). Wayne Satkamp - fiddle & vocal, with wife Barbara - bass, children Charlie - electric mandolin, & Lisa - tambourine, & & father Hugo - drums.
